CODES OF CONDUCT - COACHES

  • Be aware of the safety and well being of all participants before the development of performance.
  • Obtain and develop a suitable working relationship with gymnasts based on mutual trust, respect and understanding.
  • Have the appropriate, valid qualification and insurance cover.
  • Select activities appropriate to the age, ability of the gymnasts and ensure that they are all prepared both physically and mentally when learning new skills.
  • Adopt high standards with regard to appearance, suitable dress and choice of acceptable language.
  • Never consume alcohol before or during training or at competitions and events.
  • Never impose undue influence on gymnasts to obtain personal benefit or reward.
  • Report any incidents, referrals and disclosures immediately, following the guidelines set out in the British Gymnastics Child Protection booklet.
  • Obtain permission from parents before transporting gymnasts to competitions and training sessions.
  • Be discreet with any confidential information that you may have been given.
  • Promote the positive aspects of gymnastics by insisting on fair play.
  • Encourage gymnasts to value the actual level of performance and not to put priority on results obtained.
  • Possess an up to date Criminal Record Disclosure.
  • Follow all the guidelines laid down by British Gymnastics and Solihull Olympic Gymnastics Club.
